Valérie Madesclaire’s passion for books and the ancient and traditional crafts lead to her becoming a bookbinder specialising in the traditional ways of binding using tradional tools and methods.
After six years of training in Normandy, and at the School
Des Arts Décoratifs du Livre de Paris (UCAD), she started
practicing her craft in Bayonne, France, in 1997.
Since those days many years ago she has flourished in the art of bookbinding in her world of paper and odds n ends amid the smell of glue and leather where she maintains a technical and aesthetic dialogue with her books.
The quality of her work resulted in her enjoying the trust and confidence of Curators, Universities and Heritage organisations from all over with some of her main cients being; la Maison diocésaine de Bayonne, les Archives
départementales de Pau, les principales Mairies des
Pyrénées Atlantiques, le Tribunal de Pau, le Musée
Basque à Bayonne...
